paralysis

Complete loss of muscle function of either one or more muscle groups.

parasympathetic

The parasympathetic system, along with the sympathetic system are divisions of the autonomic nervous system.  The parasympathetic system is associated with the 'rest and digest' functions such as salivation and lacrimation.

paresis

Partial loss or impaired movement.

Rostral

An anatomical term meaning 'towards the front'.  Conversely 'caudal' means 'towards the back'

Schwann cell

A type of glial cell that produces myelin which wraps around some peripheral nerve fibre axons.

sulcus

Sulci are the grooves on the surface of the brain.
